Is NMN safe?
Is NMN safe?
The first safety trial of NMN in humans was published in 2019 and showed that a single dose of up to 500mg was tolerable. In 2021, 3 more efficacy studies have been published, showing that long term NMN supplementation from 250mg to 1200mg is safe in humans, with no side effects.
What proven benefits does NMN have in humans? Does it indeed increase NAD+ in humans?
The first human efficacy study, got published in April 2021. It showed that in prediabetic, postmenopausal, overweight or obese women, supplementation with NMN resulted in increase of insulin sensitivity and muscle remodelling. In June 2021, another study in healthy, older men over 65 showed that NMN does indeed increase levels of NAD in plasma, and counteracts age related muscle dysfunction. In both of these studies, participants were taking 250mg of NMN per day, for 10 and 12 weeks respectively. Finally, a recent study from July 2021, where healthy participants of mixed gender, aged 27-50, were given 300mg, 600mg or 1200mg of NMN daily. Study showed that NMN significantly increased their aerobic capacity and improved their cardiovascular fitness, when running and exercising. NMN was also well tolerated up to 1200mg/day for 6 weeks with no side effects.
How much NMN should I take?
If you're younger than 35, you can start with 250mg/day and after 1-2weeks increase to 500mg to see what feels better. If you're over 35, start with 500mg/day, then increase to 1g to see what feels better if needed.
How can I amplify the effect of NMN supplementation?
Along with your NMN, take one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil in the morning. Oleic acid, one of the ingredients in olive oil, is also shown to activate the SIRTUINS, the so-called longevity genes.
Should I break down the capsule for better absorption?
